A Lesson in Gratitude
Last week I attended a 20th Anniversary event for the San Diego Professional Coaches Alliance for which I currently serve as VP of Communications. As part of this event, we invited past presidents from over two decades to share their fondest memory and/or greatest accomplishment of being President. What struck me most profoundly as each of them spoke was their willingness to serve, their ability to say, “yes” with an “I can do” attitude, and the fact that all expressed gratitude for their fellow board members. Leadership discipline is more than just showing up on time and doing what you say you will do, it is the trust that is cultivated by the discipline of being grateful. Gratitude surely has a powerful effect on leading, on your team and your productivity. Gratitude is a sign of wisdom and maturity, a hallmark of confident humility. A leader versed in gratitude can cultivate a culture of civility, compassion, and courtesy, and with that, can make anything; anything can happen.
How about giving thanks beyond your Thanksgiving table? Express gratitude to those you care about, to those on your team, all year long. How can you create a culture of appreciation at work to boost your team’s performance and job satisfaction, how can you generate a culture of positivity, and bolster overall business results moving forward?
Wishing you a peaceful and joyous Thanksgiving!
With Gratitude,
